Cristo Papasakelariou, M.D. is a Board Certified Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology.


For over 30 years in private practice, I had the privilege of taking care of my patients.  

It truly was a privilege and I thank them.  

Now I have the joy of sharing my knowledge, experience and philosophy with the next generation of Ob/Gyn physicians, as a teacher and mentor.

 About the Doctor

 

Dr. Papasakelariou, a board certified gynecologist and obstetrician, is a respected physician with many professional   achievements as well as academic and clinical appointments. He has been on the teaching staff of St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston since 1984. In fact, he is the past Chief of Staff and served as the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Joseph Medical Center. He is also a past President of the Houston Gynecologic and Obstetric Society. Importantly, he has pioneered the advancement of gynecologic techniques, giving women worldwide more surgical options that are less invasive and require shorter recovery times. An accomplished author and speaker, he has produced more than 30 gynecologic surgery videos that are used worldwide to train specialists. Dr Papasakelariou knows that his patients are entrusting him with their health, and he listens objectively, supports and educates them. He is fluent in Spanish, Greek and English. Outside of medicine, his favorite activities include playing golf, cooking and spending time with his wife.

National Advisor, The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Five time recipient of the "Staff Man of the Year" Award from the residency program at St. Joseph Medical Center / The Methodist Hospital. Past president of the Houston Gynecologic and Obstetric Society. Past president of the Hispanic American Medical Association of Houston. Johnson Peyton Barnes, M.D. Memorial Award, Houston. Maxine Leever Memorial Award in cancer research.  Member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Course Director in ten formal training programs in endoscopic surgery. Frequent speaker at academic seminars and conferences.  Co-Author of medical textbooks, including "Case Files: Gynecologic Surgery" published in 2011 by McGraw Hill.


Community Recognition

 

Recognized as a Texas Monthly Magazine "Super Doc" and H Texas Magazine "Top Docs For Women".  Appearance in media outlets, most recently the "Good Day Houston" television show with Deborah Duncan, discussing robotic surgery. Co-Chairman of the Nursing Advisory Council at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
